Thanks. Very difficult to get a true handle on such stats as you say.

" It shows that 2,290 children in England – 9% fewer than in the previous year 
– were placed on child protection plans under the category of sexual abuse in 
2022/23. This is the lowest number in 14 years, and the second lowest in the 29 
years this data has been published; it equates to fewer than one in 20 of 
children whose initial assessments recorded child sexual abuse or exploitation 
concerns. The 9% decline occurred against the backdrop of a minor 1% decrease 
in the overall number of children placed on child protection plans. . . "
2022/23." p. 6.

Presumably - one real possibility of this drop is not a true fall, but a severe 
under-detection rate with massive cuts in the social care agencies.
