The sharing of the spoils between the Euro-Atlantic ‘allies’ and Russia is at the heart of the negotiations for the ‘day after’ in Ukraine. Amid the destruction of the war, the US and the EU are vying to get their hands on the precious metals, while Russia is also negotiating to sell rare earths to the US. This is why wars are fought! Imperialist 'agreements' and 'ceasefires' not only fail to defuse the rivalries, but also trigger new, harsher ones. (...) The imperialist peace that is being prepared in Ukraine has the same objectives as the imperialist war, including the division of mineral wealth. That is why imperialist agreements will not defuse or reverse the course of escalating competition and conflicts; on the contrary, they will accelerate it.
