What do you think about the call for the general strike this Friday, January 23rd? For years, I have criticized the practice of prematurely calling for a general strike, which never happens. I recall a number of these calls around the protests against the Gaza genocide during 2024. It makes us look out of touch to keep calling for something that won't happen. But maybe this time, in the middle of a federal-police surge, and in this place, Minneapolis, it will be interesting to see what will happen. I would love to be proven wrong. It would be a welcome new tactic although business unions might have a problem with Taft Hartley over political strikes against the federal government.
