It is also associated with great risks, unpredictable situations, requires great stress resistance, and empathy, even in the most difficult moments. And Ukrainian nurses know this like no one else, suffering daily from both the underestimation of their work and Russian shelling. We described this in our research ( https://www.medryh.com.ua/doslidzhennya/ ). Even in these difficult circumstances, we support the strike of New York nurses, wish them luck, and believe that Ukrainian nurses will also be ready to take decisive action to protect their rights. Now thousands of nurses from several major New York hospitals went on strike, marking the largest nurses’ strike in the city’s history. Union leaders say hospital management has failed to address their most pressing concerns, such as patient safety and basic protections for nurses. The strike has affected five major hospitals: Mount Sinai Hospital, Mount Sinai Morningside, Mount Sinai West, Montefiore Medical Center, and NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center. New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani joined the nurses in the picket and expressed support for their demands. The last major nurses’ strike in New York City was in 2023, when about 7,000 nurses walked off the job. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Groups.io Links: You receive all messages sent to this group.
