CWPUSA Central Committee Statement on the Center of Struggle in Minneapolis (excerpts) Jan. 25, 2026 ICE agents have arrested 3,000 people in the state of Minnesota. In recent weeks, ICE has shot 3 people, executing 2 legal observers: Renee Nicole Good and Alex Pretti. Workers and people in the state have responded with waves of protests, rapid response teams, and large mobilizations. These brave struggles born of righteous anger of the multinational workers and people of our country, express the broad dissatisfaction with a rotten system and its rotten government. These struggles arise from the very nature of capitalism itself and carry within them the seeds to defeat it. Every spark of resistance, every confrontation with the criminals of ICE, is a reminder that we workers are the masters of our own fate and that we are not alone: our strength lies in our numbers and organization. In these struggles, we recognize our strength in numbers and glimpse the future that is possible: emancipation from the chains of exploitation and oppression, with power in the hands of the workers. At the same time, our confrontations with ICE expose the real character of the government and its laws. They reveal how the bosses, the police, the companies, ICE, and the entire state apparatus are all one and they are against us. The movement against ICE must be linked to the struggle for socialism-communism. From this struggle, higher levels of organization must be forged: the building of the Communist Party, the consolidation of the class-conscious workers, and the guidance of these movements so that they learn to direct their fight consciously against their ultimate enemy.
