We've been over this before. "Stalinist" is widely used as an insult term. How 
widely? By anti-communist academics and ideologues like Robert Conquest. By 
social democrats like Harold Meyerson and a bunch of the DSA crowd. And by 
Trotsky---s.

The communist targets of the Stalinist epithet reject the label. This is 
independent of making a positive assessment of Stalin's leadership. In this 
regard, it is different than "Trotskyist:" many Trotskyists wear the label 
proudly. That is why there is a second word, Trotskyite, by which communists 
convey their contempt for followers of Trotsky.
