The stated and implied gloom is wrong on each count: "mainly service" is a useless criterion for capacity to shut down production. Transportation is counted as a service in GDP. Regardless of how few workers it may take, those workers have the capacity to cripple rail transport and long distance trucking. That's why the capitalist state passes especially harsh laws against them going on strike, why Biden quickly moved to shut down a rail strike, etc. "automation" - It turns out that the first swath of victims to lose jobs from AI are coders, data engineers, and such. They are getting a lesson in capitalist reality. Meanwhile, when portions of the Web crash, suddenly the person who knows the system in question is vital to restoring service – a case of capacity to shut down production. "dispersed working class" is also a working class with connections among themselves that reach farther and faster than before. The situation is a solvable challenge, not grounds for passive pessimism, which is Gandall's specialty. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Groups.io Links: You receive all messages sent to this group.
