Indeed, unlike the South African BDS movement from the 1960s to early
1990s, in which there was a blanket ban on international ties to the
oppressor country, of /any/ academic, cultural, athletic, etc nature,
the 2005 Palestine BDS made a distinction between those who furthered
official Israeli aims, and those opposed. https://bdsmovement.net/ and

One of our lead gurus on the anti-apartheid boycott, Dennis Brutus
(1927-2009), was very happy to admit the SA movement policy (which he
helped craft, e.g. on sports) created too many contradictions, and that
Jews in Israel NOT promoting any state institution and instead
supporting Palestinian liberation, should be warmly welcomed. In Durban,
where he worked his last five years, Dennis was happy that our Centre
for Civil Society at a local university could gladly promote BDS-Israel,
including against rightwing university administrators. That included
hosting the likes of Ilan Pappe and Miko Peled, who received standing
ovations in packed University of KwaZulu-Natal lecture halls. Many many
others could be mentioned, and in my own consciousness about the
struggle, the likes of Israelis Shir Hever, Amira Haas and Neve Gordon
have always been exemplary guides.
Dennis also warned <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G7ahnJLUpVU>
South Africa, before he passed away, about the dangers of hosting FIFA
in 2010: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G7ahnJLUpVU
Everything he said then needs amplifying now, eh. BDS USA! he would have
shouted from the rooftops.

“Yes” tells the story of a struggling pianist and party entertainer
known only as Y who is commissioned to write a new national anthem
celebrating genocide in Gaza. (The song borrows from a real one in a
video by an Israeli nationalist group.) Lapid’s film is a vision of a
traumatized country where life has become a frenzy of orgiastic
partying and histrionic self-righteousness...
