Cuba has been severely isolated for over half the life of its revolution, since the fall of the Soviet bloc. Of course the left in the West was never strong enough to genuinely support Cuba, and China has hardly been blockade-running since the oil embargo was instated. I am loath to criticise, but it does seem a dangerous step:
