A CP’er in his mid-70’s had a vague recollection of the Rosenbergs. But a woman from the West Bank in her mid-60’s whose father was a founder of the Palestine CP and who had studied in Prague on a scholarship on the eve of Vaclav Havel’s accession to its presidency, a retired anthropoly professor who self-identified as a Marxist, and more understandably a younger otherwise largely apolitical Palestine solidarity activist were all, to my great surprise, wholly unfamiliar with their sacrifice.
