Patrimonialism is a form of governance where a leader treats the state as personal property, prioritizing personal loyalty over legal rules and blurring public-private boundaries. Bonapartism is a political ideology and system of government based on the leadership of a charismatic military strongman. It centers on a highly centralized state, conservative nationalism, and rule achieved via universal suffrage or public plebiscites, ultimately balancing class interests while maintaining ultimate autocratic authority.
