Excellent presentation of your POV with respect to a live subject, Tony. You've got a difficult row to hoe. The DSA consists of many young people just coming round to radical politics who are typically drawn to loosely-structured and decentralized organizations. Some explicitly counterpose anarchism and spontaneity to the more disciplined organizational forms demanded by Marxism and Leninism. I remember this was the case when the New Left first made its appearance and I was not immune.
Social media and the transient nonunion service economy reinforce the tendency of the current generation to focus on the local and episodic at the expense of regular meetings which can inform and educate and hold national leaders and elected politicians to account. It will take a higher level of class struggle for your ideas to begin to take root, and even during the heyday of the old workers' movement salary caps and recall and more generally the control of leading officials and politicians by the base were uncommon outside of revolutionary syndicalism. But I certainly can't fault you or anyone else for pounding home the need. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Groups.io Links: You receive all messages sent to this group.
