1.U.S. President Donald Trump has announced what he calls the “/most
crushing economic operation/” against Iran. “/ANY country that allows
its financial institutions, businesses, airports, or government entities
to provide any type of lifeline to Iran will itself face TREMENDOUS
Economic Consequences/,” he wrote. “/Oil smuggling, swap lines, cash
transfers, exchange houses, ship registries, front companies — it all
needs to stop NOW. You know who you are. This will be an ECONOMIC D-DAY,
and we need all of our Allies to stand with the United States of America
to isolate, and defeat, the Iran threat./” Furthermore, Trump
threatened: "/ANY country that allows its financial institutions,
businesses, airports, or government entities to provide any type of
lifeline to Iran will itself face TREMENDOUS Economic Consequences./"
2.Since Trump is both a psychopath as well as a buffoon it is difficult
to know how serious this threat is. However, it seems that he is
determined to impose a total blockade against Iran at least in the short
term as the United Arab Emirates – a close ally of the U.S. and Israel –
announced only hours before that it was suspending all trade activities,
commercial exchanges and financial transactions with Iran until further
notice. This is a serious threat to Teheran since Emirati hubs supply
more than 30% of Iran’s total non-oil imports and rank among its top
three export destinations. Hence, this decision threatens to sever one
of Tehran’s most critical commercial arteries, dismantling a
multi-billion-dollar trading conduit that has long served as Iran’s
primary access point for global merchandise and foreign exchange.
