He ignores that Hamas has on multiple occasions agreed to disarm conditional on the parallel withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza. The potential for armed guerilla resistance is perhaps all that stands in the way of Palestinians being driven out of Gaza. Katz's view is not exclusive to the Israeli far right; it is shared by a majority of Israeli Jews.
