" Among many non-Jews, anti-Zionism has become ingrained in a variety of
larger ideational packages, and divergent factions within this
perspective have greatly stretched the boundaries of the term. Moreover,
the expansion of anti-Zionist expression has attracted perspectives that
hold anti-Jewish dispositions. Thus, while anti-Zionism is not driven by
antisemitism, or anti-Jewish xenophobia, these elements have
nevertheless become relevant components of the term's complex
connotation. Still, though anti-Jewish sentiments can gain legitimacy
when presented under the guise of anti-Zionist criticism, to equate all
censuring of the State of Israel with historic notions of Jew-hatred
presents dangerous assumptions."
