[ http://wso2.org/jira/browse/MASHUP-472?page=comments#action_14880 ] Jonathan Marsh commented on MASHUP-472: ---------------------------------------
Interesting. I understand that the model of a "you've signed out" page is familiar to users. But it's based on an assumption that a signed-in user cannot see certain pages (e.g. my bank account) unless they are signed in. Signing out also navigates away from residual information to hide it. In our case, we don't hide complete pages - just parts of those pages that require permissions. So the common model isn't strictly necessary, except for something like "manage users" which redirects to the home page on sign-out now. But the information that you're no longer signed in isn't highlighted. Here are a couple of alternatives: 1) a page that declares "You have been signed out. Feel free to _sign in_ again, go _home_, or _return to your regularly scheduled programming_." It might even be nice to automatically return to the profile after 5 seconds or so using a client-side redirect. 2) A bubble that appears pointing to the navigation bar highlighting the fact that the user is now signed out, which bubble could disappear (with a gentle fade of course ;-) after 5 seconds or so. Thoughts? > Signout from the profile page does not escape from the 'profile view' > --------------------------------------------------------------------- > > Key: MASHUP-472 > URL: http://wso2.org/jira/browse/MASHUP-472 > Project: WSO2 Mashup Server > Issue Type: Bug > Components: CommunitySite > Environment: Windows XP - IE 7 > Reporter: Prabath Siriwardena > Assigned To: Jonathan Marsh > Priority: Trivial > Fix For: 1.0 > > > when signout from the 'profile' page - signout completes - but you are still > on the same 'profile view' page -- This message is automatically generated by JIRA. - If you think it was sent incorrectly contact one of the administrators: http://wso2.org/jira/secure/Administrators.jspa - For more information on JIRA, see: http://www.atlassian.com/software/jira _______________________________________________ Mashup-dev mailing list [email protected] http://www.wso2.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mashup-dev
