Channa,

How about completely getting rid of setting the password in the sign-up using password option? This will allow clearer InfoCard and completely password less interaction.

If the user needs to login with a username/password pair he/she can follow the suggested approach.

Thanks,
Ruchith

Hi Ruchith,

In addition to the new message, I would have to take off the password validations and remove the asterisks from page to make passwords optional, but it brings us back to the EmailVerifier.requestUserVerification method which requires at least a dummy password (say a UUID) to be provided where it expects a password. This is still workable, as if the user ever wanted to login conventionally, (s)he can use the 'forgot password' feature to get a new password.

How does the message 'The password is optional if you will only use InfoCard based authentication. Please note that the Mashup sharing service does not currently support InfoCard authentication, so if you wish to share Mashups, you will have to request an auto generated password at that point' sound?

Bye,
Channa.

Hi Channa,

Before we ask him to try this can we do one more thing:

When we sign-up using an info card we are quired to type in our password. Can we just add some text there to say this is just a an alternative option and that you don't need to use this password ever if you stick to the use of information cards.

Thanks,
Ruchith
