Some followup re: the Apache::Session::Memcached issue I am having --

I can definitely recreate it by restarting memcached and NOT restarting apache.

Apparently Apache::Session::Memcached has no idea or does not care if it can successfully reach memcached or not. It throws no errors to indicate the connection has failed or memcached cannot be reached. It just acts as if the data does not exist.

(It seems this is more of a Apache::Session::Memcached issue so I will pass this on to that mailing list but if anyone here has a solution to using memcached in mason or if I am using it incorrectly with mason, I'm all ears :)
