Are there any alternatives to running under CGI
when on shared hosting? I sure don't want to
get the problems mentioned in chapter 9 of the
Mason book:
<http://www.masonbook.com/book/chapter-9.mhtml#TOC-ANCHOR-1>

NB even if there is away so that other customers on
the server can't get at my data I sure don't want
to hang the server...

Should the httpd.conf or .htaccess file mentioned
in the CGIHandler.pm manual be placed in *my*
document root or in the host servers document root?

In short: what need I ask my host to do and
what can I do myself?

Also I'm planning to use Unicode. Is there a way
to modify Escaping substitutions under CGI?

Thanks,

/BP
