I believe the latest version of libapreq2 is a production release, i.e. 
no "dev" in the title. Mason switched it's default install away from 
libapreq2 because it was still in development.

IIRC, there was a comment recently about Mason trying to install mp1 if 
done from CPAN. Don't let it do it. Instead, install mp2 from source 
before installing Mason.
