Here is my setup, not yet optimal, but not so far.

I used kate (from KDE), that has a very decent Mason highlighting. Also, with 
the sidebar with open files and sessions, and the fact that you can edit 
remote files as if they were local through kioslaves, it has a primitive 
project management.

I would love to see something that integrates a simple web-server running the 
mason files, auto-updates tem when there is a change, that could use the 
preamble et al. to annotate components, output something that could be 
displayed next to the web-page, like component call-structure or timing 
information. not sure though into which framework this should be added, 
Eclipse, Netbeans, Quanta, etc.
