What's the difference between SELF:method and REQUEST:method? I thought it would be that the one starts to search for a <%method method> in base_comp and the other in request_comp, while they both go on searching up the component wrapping chain, but people seem to be saying that REQUEST:method searches only in request_comp and does not go on upwards in the chain. That wouldn't make it behave just like an attribute, wouldn't it?
