Hi all! I need to develop a new retailer training website. Initially, I need a way for retailers and staff to register, login, watch a flash video (already produced), and take a short pass/fail quiz.
I have no IT staff (we have 6 employees total) and I need it to be something that I can do most of the routine maintenance, and can make simple text/graphics changes/updates without having to bring someone else in every time. I am very tech-savvy, have been using linux daily since 1994, but have very limited time. I need someone to design/implement a framework we can build on, and to focus on the system so we can flesh out details on content, graphics, and the like. I feel like Mason/Postgresql is probably the way to go. I like the way Mason keeps the content and design a little more separate, and I am more comfortable with Perl than I would be with Ruby, Java, or whatever. I like the MVC concept but am unfamiliar with packages that implement it under Mason. I run mostly Ubuntu servers, and the nature of this project is probably that it would be hosted primarily at my Salt Lake City office (T1 connection) to keep database maintenance and synchronization simple, with the high-bandwidth video (and possibly images etc) hosted elsewhere with higher bandwidth. Eventually I would like the site to grow to a fully featured internet store for about 20 products, 30 SKUs, with detailed info on all of the products. Keeping the database design simple and flexible is important, as I would like to eventually integrate the database to larger systems to help manage the business generally, including CRM, sales orders, sample requests, and various other things. But all that is down the road. I need help getting this developed. Anyone with some time, energy and ability to help with this project? My usual graphics artist is 1000 miles away, and I have lots of experience working with contractors over long distances. Most of the general design is already done. Just need some specifics worked out for session tracking, etc, and help designing a system that will scale up easily. Please contact me directly if you have interest, and provide rates, experience, urls of past work, and any suggestions on platform or design. - Matt Warnock, President RidgeCrest Herbals, Inc. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by the Moblin Your Move Developer's challenge Build the coolest Linux based applications with Moblin SDK & win great prizes Grand prize is a trip for two to an Open Source event anywhere in the world http://moblin-contest.org/redirect.php?banner_id=100&url=/ _______________________________________________ Mason-users mailing list Mason-users@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/mason-users
