I use FC10, and I can't say I had any of these problems, and I didn't
have to create those directories.  I installed using CPAN.pm, but
apache and mod_perl are from .rpms.

Apache's uid/gid is apache.apache (48).

The demo tutorial I wrote was done on FC10.

If you want to have a look and download the demo, it will be dead
simple to install since as all I did was tarball it off FC10 (you also
need the DBI and DBD::SQLite modules, altho it may at least start
without that).

You should be able to point to localhost/zoodemo without adding any
configuration at all and get it to work.

If not, let us know what the errors are.
