Actuall the pinging of the external NIC doesn't involve MASQ since the packet
is never forwarded.  There are a few things you can do.  After attempting a
connection from a client machine, type "ipchains -M -L" on your MASQ box and
see what it says.  You can also log packets using ipchains to see what's
coming in and out of your machine.
