Um, I'm sure this is going to spark some controversy, and I've gone over this
with David before and essentially the conclusion was - well, there was none.
I have a setup where my external eth0 has additional IPs aliased to it, and I
forward traffic from those aliases to internal hosts (different ones). For
example:
eth0 111.222.333.444 -> 192.168.1.4
eth0:0 111.222.333.555 -> 192.168.1.5
eth0:1 111.222.333.666 -> 192.168.1.6
eth0:2 111.222.333.777 -> 192.168.1.7
Now, when I first said this, a whole slew of people told me that's impossible,
no it doesn't work, it can't work. Fact is, IT'S WORKING FOR ME. pcAnywhere
works fine while connecting to the main IP, or any of those aliased IPs and will
correctly forward to the internal host I'm telling it to go to. No errors, no
wrong hosts, no problems.
So, my disclaimer here is: It may be working for *ME*, but won't necessarily
work in your case.
Answering your question: In my opinion, it *could* work, as I've seen it do in
my case. Again, doesn't mean it *will* for you. You can try though. What do you
have to lose?
