I have one of those dual-port Compaq NICs and it works fine.
What kernel are you running?

If the drivers are NIC modules, you can rmmod and then insmod
them.

Th TLAN drivers are fairly verbose.  Once your problem hit,
run the "dmesg" command and see if there is anything at
the end of the log.
