i understand that this is probably not the most appropriate forum to raise
this topic, but since some of you may have experience in this area i'm going
to ask anyway..

how can i optimize the tcp/ip settings (sliding window size, mtu, mss etc.)
under RedHat 7.1?

the TrinityOS docs only cover up to RedHat 6.1, and the settings (or the
location of the settings) seem to have changed?

also, if anyone DOES know how to accomplish this, can they also make
suggestions as to what appropriate values may be? i have 2 100mbit NICs, one
going to my Cable Modem and one going through a switch to a few Windows
boxes.. TrinityOS recommends an MTU of 1500 and a Window size of 16384
(iirc).. these sound acceptable.. thoughts?

also, according to netstat -rn, my MSS settings al have the value 40.. this
seems very low, i read that MSS value should be MTU - 40 (i.e. 1500 - 40 =
1460) so i don't know if maybe the significance of 40 in this case makes it
right or wrong..

any answers to these questions will be greatly appreciated :)

stoo..
