You've definitely got something munged somewhere then.  As you're only
using the one iptables line I highly doubt the problem is there.  What
are your internal machines using for DNS resolution?

This shouldn't happen either.  I have no problem (other than the PASV
requirement) ftp'ing from behind my iptables firewall.
