My apologies if this is a dumb question. I'm trying to get a MASQ system running for a small network under RedHat 7.2. The machines are linked "inside" the MASQed network using NFS. However, when we're trying to copy large-ish files around, we get intermittent IO errors. I am using the "stricter" rc.firewall script from the MASQ HOWTO, and after reading around what I can find, I started to think this was a fragmentation problem. The NFS HOWTO suggests using the -f flag, but this doesn't seem to be helping much. I searched the archives and saw that the ip_always_defrag option is supposed to be on by default in 2.4 kernels. However, I also read some posts that suggested that things might always work in this configuration. So, my question is, is there is a simple way to adapt the HOWTO scripts to work nicely with NFS, or should I start looking at using a separate box as the firewall?
