Greetings,

I am running WinXP Home Edition and I had a similar problem. I am a bit
of a newbie so I thought it was just me. I am using IPMasq through my
RedHat 7.3 Server. Following the instructions in setting up IP Masq I
then wen't to my 98SE box and set things up quickly there using the
private addresses. XP was a different matter. I set up the private
address and had the gateway address point to my internal NIC card
(eth1). XP didn't like it and refused to cooperate. I then went to "My
Network Places" and clicked on the "Set up a home or small office
network" link.

This brought up the "Network Setup Wizard" and I clicked through to the
third page and selected option #2. After that, I tried to connect to the
net and couldn't. I was able to ping all my internal boxes including the
XP box. What was weird was that I couldn't ping any boxes "FROM" my XP box.

I then went back to "My Network Places" and selected "View Network
Connections". That brought up another window called, of course, "Network
Connections". In here, I selected my connection and in the menu to the
left, I selected "Repair this connection". When windows was done, I
attempted to connect to the net and was successfull. Hope this helps.

P.S.
I noticed that when my Linux server (RH 7.3) goes into power save mode,
the network connection is lost. I have to physically touch the system to
bring the connection back. Has anyone else noticed this or am I being
silly? How do I turn of the power function or route around this? Thanks
for any help.

Linux Newb.
