Here is a version of your script that I have rewritten. See what you
think:

Thank you for your solution. I have used it and am still having the same problem. I do not think it is
your script but my routing. When I ping www.yahoo.com from my laptop I see the following output:

root@myhost:~# tcpdump -i eth1 tcpdump: listening on eth1
08:30:41.370186 10.0.0.5.netbios-ns > 10.0.0.255.netbios-ns: NBT UDP PACKET(137): QUERY; REQUEST; BROADCAST
08:30:42.117742 10.0.0.5.netbios-ns > 10.0.0.255.netbios-ns: NBT UDP PACKET(137): QUERY; REQUEST; BROADCAST
08:30:42.869003 10.0.0.5.netbios-ns > 10.0.0.255.netbios-ns: NBT UDP PACKET(137): QUERY; REQUEST; BROADCAST

Here is my routing table (The addresses have been changed).

root@myhost:~# netstat -r
Kernel IP routing table
Destination Gateway Genmask Flags MSS Window irtt Iface
10.0.0.0 * 255.255.255.0 U 40 0 0 eth1
32.56.185.0 * 255.255.255.0 U 40 0 0 eth0
loopback * 255.0.0.0 U 40 0 0 lo
default 32-56-185-001.m 0.0.0.0 UG 40 0 0 eth0
default 32-56-185-001.m 0.0.0.0 UG 40 0 0 eth0

Is it right to have the eth0 as the default gateway?
Do I need to add the DNS and such info into the laptop (W2K) as well?

Thank you once again.
