I just set up Linux using RedHat (kernel 2.0.34). I'm using IP masquerading
on a small network (LAN to WAN, 2 NICs). Everything works great for awhile,
then the system locks up (no keyboard, monitor) and connectivity is lost. I
can't ping the server from inside or outside the LAN. After a re-boot
everything works.

If anyone has any input on the mater please send me a message,
[EMAIL PROTECTED] and or post.

Thanks
Dave

Additional information:

The system log lacks any valuable information, other that a lack of any
message during the "lock-up"

I was able to see a message (for a sec before it froze) that was something
like "invalid packet from 351323 (the number is defiantly not correct)"

It locked up while in a telnet session one time (but the other times no one
was in a session)

I have no clue what I'm doing :-).. In 3 days I have installed, learned, and
configured Linux for the first time.

One that note: the system is "clean", meaning after I figured out how to get
everything to work I formatted/re-installed/ and configure.

One one the command I really don't under stand, yet I got to work was
"ipfwadm". I have the following commands in boot:
Ipfwadm -F -p deny
Ipfwadm -F -a m -S 192.168.15.0/24 -D 0.0.0.0/0

THANKS again
Dave
