I have no idea why it works that way, but one solution would be to set up a
web-cache on your masq-server, no big cache is needed, it is just supposed
to work as a relay. I found this solution to be the best, at least for me,
since it doesn't use masq at all, and most browsers, eg. MSIE and Netscape
even Lynx, supports a proxy configuration.
Another benefit is that pages you often visit get cached and the next time
you go to them they will pop up in the browser window without using the link
to the internet at all (well kinda :)
I would recommend Squid. You can find it at http://squid.nlanr.net/Squid/
Pretty easy to configure and compile. Check your Linux distribution first,
it might already be included there.
