Hi all!

ftp://ftp.rustcorp.com/ipchains/pre-release contains pre-releases of
the HOWTO (v1.0.7), ipchains (1.3.9) and the scripts (1.1.2).

Those of you who reported bugs, PLEASE check your fixes got
incorporated; and if people check out the new section of the HOWTO (A
Serious Example) I'd be grateful.

I'm doing prereleases to help the distribution makers, and my three
HOWTO translators. I want to keep the rate down to one every 6
months.

Everywhere:
o Replaced my EMail with the mailing list for bug reports.

ipchains 1.3.9:
o ipchains: Fixed usage message (--delete-chain not --delete).
o ipchains: Changed --proto to --protocol
(you can still used --proto of course).
o ipchains: Fixed TOS value warning for Minimize Cost.
o ipchains: Added --line-numbers option for listing chains.
o ipchains: Improved warning for `-j MASQ' if not masq. kernel.

o ipchains man page: Clarified -i meaning (for different chains)
o ipchains man page: Added DIAGNOSTICS section.

o ipfw man page: now mentions fw_outputsize field in /proc

        o libipfwc: Added ipfwc_get_raw_socket() function.

ipchains-scripts 1.1.2:
o ipchains-restore: Ignore lines starting with #, to allow
manually-entered comments in ipchains-save output files.

        o ipfwadm-wrapper: now handles `-r <portnum>' case.

o ipfwadm-wrapper man page: note that if /usr is NFS mounted,
you can't use ipfwadm-wrapper before /usr is mounted.

HOWTO 1.0.7:
o All section headers uniformly Capitalized and un-period
          terminated
o 1.4: URL of ipchains fixed.
o 1.4: Location of ipchains mailing list fixed.
o 2.3.2: Clarification on what ipchains IS, not just that it replaces
          ipfwadm.
o 2.3.3: New HOWTO section on Making
        o 3.1: Rusty's Three-Line Guide to Masq contained two
          mistakes. <SIGH>
o 3.3: Note that each arrangement is subtly different.
        o 3.3: Different network examples now under 3.3 (eg. 3.3.1 not 3.4).
        o 4.1.1: Recommend 1.3.4 or 1.3.8 or above.
        o 4.1.3.6: Fragment example `-D' now `-d'.
o 4.2: Changed `&' in inline example to `and' for more
          clarity.
o 4.2.1: Changed prompt in ipchains-save example: now must be
          root.
o 5.8: Mention use of mark value for QoS and portforwarding.
        o 7: New section: A Serious Example.

Thanks!
Rusty.
