Thanks to all those who have helped. My problem with DNS and ping is solved. Somehow, my ethernet card's setup program decided it was going to replace my winsock.dll for one that didn't work properly. So I painfully surfed (ie. nslookup on the working computer, and type the IP on the other.. ;) ) my way to MS's website and downloaded Winsock v2. Everything automagically fixed itself. What led me to believe that it was in the drivers is that I set up a system almost identical to mine at a friends place without problems... Sorry for the O/T.
