To reiterate, before I moved to Debian 2.1, everything worked beautifully. I used
Debain 1.3.1 with the exact hardware I have today in the exact configuration for about
6 months without a problem.
Therefore, I doubt the hardware is an issue. My problems began when I upgraded to
Debian 2.1(to process upgrading is like calling a root canal fun). It was then that
the *machine* began to
mysteriously crash whenever I was IRC and on the Web or FTP'ing and on the web. I
have two machines on the network -- an NT 4 SP# box that also runs Debain 2.1 and an
SGI Indigo2 running
IRIX 6.2 with updated to April 1998 recommended patches.
I have re-checked my config with the how-to's three times, as well as, rebuilding the
kernel in two or three ways to attempt to resolve the issue. I implemented the more
advanced firewalling rules in the
how-to without any positive effect. Does anyone know of any issues between 2.1 and
masquerade?
