Here "Check if you have enabled portforwarding" means that you should be
sure that you configured the "CONFIG_IP_MASQUERADE_IPPORTFW" option into
the kernel, and if you have compiled it as a module, that you have
loaded the "ip_masq_portfw" module. It will not auto-load, as far as I
can tell.

Do you mean that your modified ip_masq_ftp module does not work with the
2.2 kernels? I was unaware of that.. though I haven't had a need for
it, just yet. :)
