It isn't. 2.2.x has support for GRE tunnelling as used by one router
vendor but this does not support MS PPTP.

That's odd, if it's supposed to be for the 2.2.2 kernel. Try
downloading the patch again and make sure you don't view it on the
screen before saving it - that can corrupt the patch file. Save it
directly to disk.
I'm on vacation this week and I'm going to be working on porting IPSec
and PPTP call-ID masq to 2.2.9
