With VNC,

you can specify which ports to use fairly easily.
I find it good and free. You can mix/match with X windows
or MS Windows. Your desire to connect through to different
masqued internal hosts might be doable by choosing specific
ports on the Masq host that forward to VNC servers on each
of the internal hosts. Then run the VNC client with options
of a different port for each different internal host.
BTW, you can use ssh to encrypt the communication from the
outside world using it's port forwarding mechanisms. This
gives you a cheap VPN.
