I'm noticing people using the following command in their forwarding
setups:

route add -net 192.168.1.0 eth0

This gives me the error
SIOCADDRT: Invalid Argument

I assumed that this was because 192.168.1.0 is actually aliased to eth0:0
(can't afford a second NIC at this point, so I use the aliasing trick).
So, I have also tried substituting eth0:0 for the last argument, and I get
the same error. Masquerading seems to work fine without this command, but
still, everyone else seems to be using it -- what's it for, why do I need
it, and why doesn't it work?
Thanks --
