Hello everyone,

I have a dilemma in using VMware for Linux. I am running Windows NT on the
"virtual machine", and the Linux box is connected to our corporate LAN by a
token ring adapter. Unfortunately, that means that I can't use Ethernet
bridging to give access between the NT VM and the LAN.

To solve the problem, I set up IP masq on the Linux box. The VM is one
machine (the only machine) on the masq'ed private network. So, here's the
diagram:

VM (192.168.0.2) virtual AMD PCI Ethernet adapter ->
Linux (192.168.0.1) vmnet1 "VMware virtual hub" ->
Linux (123.45.67.89) tr0 token ring adapter ->
Corporate LAN (123.45.67.xx)

IP Masq works great for this setup. I can ping, telnet, FTP, etc. from the
NT box. I have name resolution via DNS. The problem:

No NT domain login or access to SMB shares!

I read about redirecting ports 137-139 to get access to SMB shares. That's
fine, except all the shares I need require NT domain authentication!
Anyone have a module (or willing to write one) which will accomodate NT
domain login? Apparently, the client's IP is embedded somewhere in the body
of the UDP packet, which could cause some problems.

As far as I can tell, PPTP won't work for the VM because Corporate won't set
up any PPTP servers. Is there a PPTP config that would work?

If the best solution doesn't use IPmasq, that's fine - I just need this to
WORK!

Thanks for your help/advice!
