A couple of comments: First, on the PPP protocol, get the
O'Reilly book. It's got all the detail you'll ever want, and more.

On ISP's understanding what we want, sadly they're few and far
between. And the situation is going to get worse. I'm dealing with
a few small ISPs who understand what I'm doing with Linux
servers; they're going to be an endangered species, as the AOLs
and MSNs of the world gobble each other up. The huge ISPs won't
have decent tech support, and won't care, and my client base, the
small businesses that can't afford T1 service, are going to suffer!
I'm about to change my pricing on client systems connected to
DSL -- I'll discount the Linux integration, but charge every minute of
the time I spend trying to deal with the phone company about the
service.

Thanks for listening.
