The module supports all known protocol versions, from v2 up through v5. 
However, it doesn not support all *features* of the protocol.  Examples
include file transfers, and perhaps chat; I can't recall.  It is
documented, though.  But ICQ 99 does work with it, as I can attest.

Just FYI, though, I have discovered that ICQ works *much* better when
using SOCKS5.  All protocol features work, as far as I can tell.  In
particular, those elusive file transfers.  :)

You can pick up some free SOCKS5 source code from www.socks.nec.com.  It
builds perfectly out of the box, and is easy to configure.  Here's a
sample configuration (/etc/socks5.conf):

    auth - - n

    noproxy 127.     -
    noproxy 192.168.1. -

    permit - - 192.168.1. - - -
    deny - - - - - -

This works so well, that I now use this configuration (it works
independently from MASQ) for all my ICQ clients.
