Occasionally the machines behind my firewall lose sight of the internet
world beyond the masq machine. The masq machine continues to
interact normally with the internet world and the machines behind the
firewall continue to interact normally with the masq machine, but
nothing flows THROUGH the firewall.

The rest of the time the firewall works great, but this happens every
few days, and when it does, the only way I've found to get things working
through the firewall again is to reboot.

My masq machine has Red Hat 6.0 with an IPCHAINS firewall set up per
David Ranch's article in the August '99 Linux Journal. It is connected to
the internet via PPP with a dynamic IP address. The machines behind the
firewall are connected to it via PPP. It assigns them a (local) IP
address.

Any suggestions, diagnostic approaches, or workarounds will be
appreciated.
