I've switched to a crossover cable and things look better, but the results
are
the same - still can't ping from internal (win98) box to the gateway
(192.168.0.1).
win98 has IP 192.168.0.2 and gateway is set to 192.168.0.1, DNS
like ISP.
thanks for the earlier replies and any new hints...
