Easier to configure than DIALD, and not as much overhead. > but why you would want to is beyond me... as this causes more problems with > other applications... effectively preventing your clients from using the > internet... > > Why does this constitute a problem? > > -JMS Interestingly enough, Jose, I have been asking myself the same question. Part of why it constitutes a problem is because I only have one phone line coming into the house. And since other people here must use it for more than the Internet. I am somewhat reluctant to have the link up when it's not being used for access. Of course machine #2 _is_ my daughter's (13 yrs.), and I could instruct her to download her e-mail from the ISP when she logs-on thereby utilizing the connection. The other part of the reason, it is a problem for me, is, that the machine is not doing what I want it to. I believe that it is possible to configure the machine to do what I want it to do. When it doesn't, it becomes a problem to solve. It's one of the ways that I learn. (There is also the fact that I enjoy being able to "control" something, but that get's into a psychological aspect that is far beyond the scope of this post.) ;-) Enjoy your day, and thank you for the feedback, Paul ---End reply--- -- Paul Wittry <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> <http://www.premier1.net/~ppw3> >>>Powered by Caldera Open-LINUX 1.2, and XC-Mail<<< --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For daily digest info, email [EMAIL PROTECTED]
