I have had IP masquerading up and running for about 6 to 8 months now. It's been working flawlessly. I'm running Redhat 5.0 and kernel 2.0.34. The problem is that recently the hard drive  on the masq machine started making a lot of noise whenever any of the other machines (including the masq machine) tries to access the internet. As a result of all these hard drive  access's the speed of internet transactions has slowed down on my whole network. I might be tempted to think this is a hardware problem but any other kind of access to that machine (print spooling file serving etc) doesn't have the same kind of problem.

Any ideas??

Thanks,

Jim
