Well, after discussions about Paul Sery's Linux Network Toolkit recently
on list I decided to re-setup my firewall and such as per chapter 10 in his
book. But once again the same problem with downloads via a web browser
via ftp (also strait ftp from win boxes too) occur, If i go to a website
www.winfiles.com for example and download a file, no problem, but if I go
to www.redhat.com and try to download one of the errata for my rh5.2 box
it times out (server may be down or nto responding....) The one thing I have
noticed that is common to when it doesn't work is that the file download
request is forwarded to another port, (in all the cases so far a port above
1024) ie  ftp.qualcomm.com gets sent to 192.35.156.22:36246 ===
timeout and failure to download.

Trying wsftp reports something about no route to site or some such.

WWW, smtp and pop3 all work as they should from the connected
windows boxes (95,98,nt)

Anyone have any ideas?
