If you know how to add an alias to the Ethernet card, do so. Make this alias
address part of the same network number as the station you are trying to get
to. At the workstation, set the default gateway address to point to the alias
address you added to the Linux Ethernet card.
On the Linux box, do a 'route add default ppp0' or whatever interface it is that
faces your ISP.
You should now be ble to:
a. ping back and forth between local hosts on the other subnet number and the
strangely numberred host
and b. see everything on the other side of the Linux system.
Essentially what this does is to 'route on the card' locally, and the default route
statement in the Linux box takes care of any concerns routing to the internet.
You MUST make sure that your ISP is REALLY advertising the route to your
'legally' addressed machine.
